From the Studio
This heron was created following time spent in Florida, alongside a companion cardinal piece. Being immersed in the wetlands — their layered vegetation, reflective water, and quiet rhythm — influenced both the subject and the pacing of the work.
The craft-coloured card was on hand when inspiration hit. Watercolor was applied to enhance depth while preserving the honesty of the paper beneath.
The heron’s poised stillness reflects an interest in moments of observation rather than movement — a pause where light, line, and negative space work together to suggest presence rather than narrative.
